JODIE O'SHEA KIDS GIVE BACK
As you all know many thousands of people living close to Mt Agung have been evacuated from their homes and villages with the threat of a volcanic eruption. Some of our older children together with helpers went
up for the day to take needed supplies and spend time with the children in one of these refugee camps.
Komang entertained everyone playing the guitar and the children organised other activities with the children.
It is so important that we all think about others especially in times of great need.
The visit was a huge success and they will go again depending on how the situation evolves.
At Jodie O'Shea we encourage our children to sing, play the piano, dance, play the guitar. Miracles do happen ...... as Billy Joel & John Denver say
I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music. -Billy Joel-
"Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit. No matter what language we speak, what color we are, the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith, music proves: We are the same." ~ John Denver ~
ALISON AND LISA VISIT KTI
We cannot thank KTI enough for their support with our children. So wonderful to see how well they are doing and how happy they are. Thanks to everyone especially their mentors and Polly
Many of you might not know but Alison went to Yogya to help after the devastating earthquake in 2006 and with the help of Happy Hearts Fund and eleven other private donors managed to rebuild 82 kindergartens and one primary school assisting over 4000 children.
Yayasan Cinta Kasih Anak continues to work closely with these educational facilities assisting with servicing and repairs.
PAK BARJO THE AFTERMATH OF THE EARTHQUAKE
We found Pak Barjo lying in a tent with steel pins sticking out of his legs, these had been put in as a temporary measure then he fell and large lumps of steel had been misplaced. This poor man had lost his wife and granddaughter during the earthquake when a brick wall fell on them. We took him to the hospital, built him a bamboo hut and over the years have been checking on him. His bamboo hut had finally disintegrated and we built him a new house with water ( which he did not have before ) This man holds a very special place in my heart and we are so happy to have been able to help him again
SUMBA WELL PROJECT
We have just completed building 6 wells on the island of Sumba.
Sumba is a very arid island and people walk miles to get water.
These wells are hand dug and no machinery used they have a bucket and no pump sustainable for the future!
Thank you to The Boris and Inara Teterev Foundation for your support and giving so many families the precious gift of water.
OUR LOVE FOR JODIE
So many years have passed since that terrible night on October 12th but
Jodie's memory stays with us always to say she is our "guiding light" is
an understatement she is there in everything we do...
